Cholla, Sierra Pinacate, MexicoPosted by: Jeff Beck on Dec 24, 2008 |

This image was taken in the Sierra Pinacate in northwestern Mexico. The cloud cover creates defused lighting without harsh shadows in this desert landscape. The black volcanic soil makes the cholla and brittlebush really stand out, highlighting their unique beauty. One of my favorite parts of this image is the distant cinder cone fringed in red. Wow, what a rugged and beautiful landscape.

I love the composition of this photograph. Excellent work, Jeff! I hope you'll post more information in your blog on the individual photos, with information on where you took them, and what type of artistic decision you made in taking the pictures. It's great to hear about the artistic process. It really shows through your work.
